We are excited to announce the 1st Annual Pavelich Invitational, the first-ever hockey game at the new Alpine Ice Rink at Town Center. Marty Pavelich, 83-year old Big Sky resident and 4-time Stanley Cup champion from the 1950’s with the Detroit Red Wings, will be on hand to drop the puck and check out the action, beginning at 3:00 pm on January 1, 2011. The game takes after the NHL's Winter Classic - an outdoor regular season game played on New Year's Day.
Hockey players from Bozeman and Big Sky will be invited to play. Players are being invited because of their contribution to hockey in Bozeman or Big Sky, either past or present. One of the ringers of the group will be Lisa Hagen, Big Sky resident and former NCAA National Champion goalie with the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Following the game, at 4:30pm a band will play on Center Stage, and everyone is invited to skate on the rinks (no sticks and pucks for this one) to live music. A donation of $5/person is suggested to skate. Food and beverages will be available on-site. Rental skates will be available from Grizzly Outfitters, 995-2939.
Stay tuned for more details! We will see you out there!
